Mission

Our Conference is a lay Catholic community that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor. Our Vincentian men and women grow spiritually, and practice their faith as they reach out and minister to the needs of others with love, respect, and support. Together, we seek to provide person-to-person services of charity. In the words of our patron, St. Vincent de Paul: "Charity...binds communities to God and persons to one another...."

In conjunction with Germanna Community College (Fredericksburg Campus) our conference serves a particular demographic, frequently ignored. These are fostered children who have "aged out" and are wanting to pursue an education. Here in Virginia Germanna is part of a program that grants monies to this student. We partner with the college when the student needs specific items, such as food, Our conference purchases backpacks at the beginning of the school year; filled with notebooks, writing instruments, and gift cards, etc.

During the year, our conference finds coats (all ages, sizes, styles) for our annual Coats-to-Go day in the late fall. Our volunteers gather the coats and have a full day of distribution in the parish hall at St. Matthew church. This past year we gave over 250 coats to those who attended this event.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The St. Faustina Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society offers person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. We aim to help families and individuals effect systemic change in their lives so they can overcome their current financial and medical needs. The Society’s mission is to:

Encourage spiritual growth of the members
Develop friendships among the members and with those in need
Seek out and serve people in need with compassion, generosity, and respect

The St. Faustina Conference is one of 12 conferences in Northern Virginia Conferences linked by the common mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to empower the poor in our communities. The Conference serves our neighbors-in-need throughout most of Spotsylvania County and potions of Orange County in Virginia.

Core Conference Charitable Activities
Financial Assistance (rent, utilities, etc.)
Food and Winter Clothing Assistance
Educational assistance for orphans and needy college students (Great Expectations Program and Gladys P. Todd Academy), scholarships for Trade schools
Medical referral and assistance with prescription medications
Case Management

The core of Vincentian service is the home visit. During a home visit, two members of the SVDP Conference go to the home or other meeting place of an individual or family, who are respectively called a Neighbor-in-need or Friend.  The Vincentians visit with the clients, assess their needs, provide assistance or give referrals based on the situation. The home visit's central purpose is to maintain the dignity and respect of the people we serve.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Oct 01 - Sep 30

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
